BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. Azerbaijan exported 385 million kWh of electricity from January through March 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the Ministry of Energy indicates that electricity exports increased by 24.7 million kWh, which is a 6.9 percent rise compared to the same period of 2024 (360.3 million kWh).
Based on operational data for January–March, electricity production in Azerbaijan totaled 7,172 million kWh. This marks an increase of 42.5 million kWh or 0.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, when production stood at 7,129 million kWh.
Meanwhile, the total electricity production in Azerbaijan from January through March of this year reached 7.1 billion kWh. This marks a 0.6 percent increase, or 42.5 million kWh, from the previous year's figures.
Of this, the production from TPPs amounted to 6.3 billion kWh, from hydroelectric plants (HEPs) 669.6 million kWh, and other sources contributed 183.9 million kWh, including 9.5 million kWh from wind power plants, 112.5 million kWh from solar power plants, and 61.9 million kWh from the Waste Incineration Plant.
For the first quarter, the breakdown of electricity production was as follows: 6,385.0 million kWh by "Azerenergy" (TPP producing 5,739.9 million kWh, SES producing 645.1 million kWh), 91.2 million kWh by the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic's State Energy Service (TPP producing 55.7 million kWh, HPP producing 21.7 million kWh, and HPP producing 13.8 million kWh), 6.3 million kWh from "Azerishig" WPP, and 689.3 million kWh from independent power plants.
