ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 18. The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, visited the Aktau International Sea Port – a key logistics hub of the country that plays an important role in the development of Kazakhstan’s transit potential during a working visit to the Mangistau region, Trend reports.
Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport, Marat Karabaev, stated that in 2024, cargo traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route increased by 62 percent and reached 4.5 million tons.
A total of 358 container trains and 27,000 vehicles were transported along this route, with exports accounting for 3.2 million tons. By 2028, this figure is planned to reach 10 million tons.
The President also instructed to accelerate the construction of an airport in the resort area of Kendirli. He emphasized that the Mangistau region has high potential for Kazakhstan to become the transport and logistics hub of Eurasia. The implementation of this task is of strategic importance.
As part of his working trip to the Mangistau region, the President of Kazakhstan also plans to hold a meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of the region.
