BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2. Over 71.1 million payment transactions worth 3.1 billion manat ($1.8 billion) were processed in Azerbaijan through the Interbank Card Center (BKM) as of May 1, 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank (CBA) indicates that this marks an increase compared to the same period in 2024, with transaction volume climbing by 21.3 million units, or 42.7 percent, and the total value expanding by 851 million manat ($500.5 million), or 36.6 percent.
Additionally, around 36,300 transactions amounting to $9.8 million were carried out via BKM as of May 1, 2025, showing a rise of 14,300 transactions or 65 percent in volume, and $4.4 million, or an 81.5 percent increase in value, compared to the same period last year.
Moreover, 21,000 transactions worth 2.6 million euros were processed, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of around 145,400 in volume or 87.4 percent, and a 44.7 percent drop in value, equal to 2.1 million euros.
