ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 29. Kazakhstan is maintaining a low unemployment rate thanks to sustained job growth, particularly among salaried workers, Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Askar Biakhmetov said during a government meeting, Trend reports.
According to him, the unemployment rate remained stable at 4.6 percent in the first half of 2025. The number of salaried employees reached 7.1 million, while the self-employed totaled 2.1 million people.
Biakhmetov noted three key labor market trends: the growing demand for digital skills due to automation, the rapid development of platform-based employment and e-commerce, and demographic shifts resulting in an increasing number of young jobseekers—expected to reach 360,000 annually by 2035.
These developments signal the need for proactive policies to support workforce adaptation and economic modernization.
