ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 29. Kazakhstan is introducing dozens of new professions as part of efforts to modernize its industrial sectors in response to automation and technological advances, the country's Vice Minister of Industry Iran Sarkhan said during a government meeting, Trend reports.
The Atlas of New Professions, compiled under the Ministry of Industry and Construction, now includes 75 new professional roles across industries such as metallurgy, mining, mechanical engineering, and construction. These changes reflect shifting labor demands as Kazakhstan advances its industrial base and digitizes production processes.
Sarkhan emphasized that around 40,000 specialists are currently needed in the sectors overseen by the ministry. Among the newly defined roles are robotic mining equipment operators, smart system developers for metallurgy, virtual prototyping engineers in mechanical engineering, and digital designers and Big Data analysts in the construction sector. Additionally, more than 40 existing professions have been transformed due to automation.
He also noted that the launch of 190 investment projects in the manufacturing sector this year will create at least eight more new professions, particularly in mechanical engineering, including 3D printing and welding engineers, and operators of robotic painting systems.
This evolving professional landscape marks a transition from traditional manual labor to automated, high-tech roles, redefining how industrial work is perceived in Kazakhstan.
