ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 28. The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) continued its steady growth in 2024, expanding its membership base and increasing its contribution to the national economy.
Data obtained by Trend from the annual report of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan shows that the organization welcomed 725 new members last year, among them 133 women entrepreneurs.
The report highlights the strengthening position of private business across key sectors. In construction, the private sector accounted for nearly 88 percent of activity, underscoring its growing dominance. Over the course of the year, entrepreneurs commissioned 17 new facilities, ranging from agricultural and industrial to commercial and textile enterprises, creating more than 1,300 jobs.
Established in March 2008, the UIET now brings together nearly 30,000 representatives of Turkmenistan’s private sector. It serves as a platform to protect members’ rights, support entrepreneurship, and promote investment and business development in the country.
