BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. Kazakhstan remains Azerbaijan’s top trading partner in Central Asia, recording the highest trade turnover in the region from January through September 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that trade with Kazakhstan increased by $370 million, exceeding $568 million, with imports to Azerbaijan reaching $497.7 million.
Uzbekistan ranks second in trade volume with Azerbaijan, reaching $318.9 million and showing a significant growth of more than $148 million. Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan also saw notable increases, with trade turnover surpassing $62 million and $10.6 million, respectively. Turkmenistan, which was previously among the leading partners with $317 million in trade, saw its turnover decline to $139.7 million.

The State Customs Committee data shows that Azerbaijan carried out trade with 173 countries from January to September this year, totaling $34.4 billion.
Of this, exports reached $19.9 billion and imports totaled $14.6 billion, marking a year-on-year decline of 6.3 percent in exports and a 14.5 percent increase in imports.
