BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Port in Hormozgan Province exported 23.6 million tons of products in the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through September 22, 2025), the port’s director, Hossein Abbasnejad, told reporters, Trend reports.
Abbasnejad notes that of this total, 19.7 million tons were non-oil products and 3.92 million tons were oil products, primarily consisting of mineral ores and related goods.
He added that a total of 36.3 million tons of cargo was handled at the port during this period. Imports through the port amounted to 4 million tons, while 5.12 million tons of cargo were transported in transit, representing a 33 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
To manage non-oil cargo, 751 ships docked at Shahid Rajaee Port over the six months. Covering an area of 4,800 hectares, the port has the capacity to handle more than 88 million tons of cargo annually.
Shahid Rajaee Port is Iran's largest and most sophisticated commercial port, situated near Bandar Abbas on the Strait of Hormuz. It functions as the nation's primary shipping center for imports and exports, managing the majority of its container traffic and significantly contributing to the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). The port holds strategic significance owing to its nearness to the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for international oil transport.
