This year Azeryolservis JSC of the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry plans to complete the reconstruction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue in Baku, head of the company Javid Gurbanov told journalists on Friday.
He said the reconstruction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue is one of the projects to be completed by the end of 2013.
Completion of the work on the connection of roads linking Boyuk Shor and Koroglu roundabouts is also planned this year. The highway will then pass under Ziya Bunyadov Avenue further round the new Olympic Stadium which is currently being built close to Boyuk Shor. As a result, Gurbanov said, a long road will be created which will relieve some of the burden on the roads from the villages of Zabrat, Mashtaga, Mardakan and Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
As Gurbanov said, the new road will run parallel to Heydar Aliyev Avenue and connect F.Kh.Khoyski and Hasan Aliyev Streets.
As part of creating a new road transport intersection close to Ganjlik metro station, it is planned to complete the construction of underground tunnels until June this year. Construction of an underground pedestrian tunnel will be carried out simultaneously.
As for underground pedestrian tunnels, Gurbanov said completion of one to cross Heydar Aliyev Avenue is also scheduled for this year. There is a need for such a tunnel as currently the avenue can be crossed only by one tunnel. "In this regard and also due to the construction of administrative and other buildings along the avenue, it was decided to build a tunnel," Gurbanov said.
The length of the closed part of the passage will reach 100 metres and its total length will be about 300 metres.
Gurbanov also said that the tunnel will ensure people's movement across the avenue during the games at the Shafa Stadium.
He said construction of a road from this tunnel that will provide passage from Heydar Aliyev and Zia Bunyadov avenues and Hasan Aliyev Street to Nobel and Babak avenues is planned in future.
