In January-November 2018, the mining of lead and zinc ores in Kazakhstan amounted to 5.5 million tons, which is 2.4 percent more than in the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to Energyprom.kz.
At the same time, the mining of lead in lead concentrate amounted to 77,700 tons, which is 25.4 percent less year-on-year. Also, the lead concentrate mining decreased by 16.9 percent to 331,600 tons.
There is a slight increase in lead processing: in January-November 2018, the production of untreated lead increased by 3.8 percent compared to the same period last year up to 142,100 tons.
Despite the growth both in mining and processing, the export of untreated lead in January-October totaled 70,400 tons, which is almost 34 percent less than a year earlier. In money, exports amounted to $161.8 million, which is 26.2 percent less year-on-year.
The main importers of the Kazakh lead are Vietnam and Spain: 39,100 and 13,700 tons in January-October, respectively.
It should also be noted that according to the Statistics Committee of the Kazakh National Economy Ministry, since the beginning of the year prices of lead exports have decreased by 11.7 percent.
