TEHRAN, Iran, October 1. Iran and Japan are seeking to expand bilateral ties, as was noted during the meeting between Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji and Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
Owji indicated that the two countries could cooperate in the oil, gas, refinery, and petrochemical sectors, adding that Iran has ongoing oil-related cooperation with other countries.
He noted that Iran can play an important role in Japan's energy supply, and the level of economic cooperation between the two countries could be raised.
The Iranian government has set comprehensive program for the development of the oil industry and predicted to attract $160 billion worth of investment in eight years and raising the level of oil production capacity to 5.7 million barrels per day and natural gas production to 1.5 billion cubic meters per day.
