BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. The throughput of oil transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline from January to September 2024 reached an impressive 21.6 million tons, Trend reports, referring to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.
The BTC pipeline carried the lion's share, accounting for 75.1 percent of the total oil volume transported by the primary pipelines traversing Azerbaijani territory in the first three quarters of this year.
As per the commission's findings, Azerbaijani oil made up a hefty 17.6 million tons of the overall oil flowing through BTC.
In a comparative analysis, the throughput of oil conveyed through BTC reached an impressive 22.6 million tons during the period from January to September 2023.
Azerbaijan's strategic oil pipeline transported a total of 30.1 million tons of oil in 2023, with 24.9 million tons originating from Azerbaijan and the remainder consisting of transit oil from Caspian countries.
The BTC pipeline has been in operation since 2006 and has a pumping capacity exceeding 50 million tons of oil annually.
