Belavia Airlines of Belarus is ready to resume flights on the route Minsk-Ashgabat-Minsk at any time and confirmed its readiness to colleagues from Turkmenistan, Belavia told Trend.
Air traffic will be restored immediately after receiving permission from the aviation authorities of Turkmenistan.
"Currently, air traffic with Turkmenistan is suspended until September 30," the Belarusian airlines added.
The company added that before the pandemic, flights to the capital of Turkmenistan were operated once a week. In particular, it was a departure from Minsk on Tuesdays and arrival at the Ashgabat International Airport the next day.
"The return flight was carried out on Wednesday," noted Belavia.
The suspension of flights worldwide is due to the threat of a coronavirus pandemic.
Turkmenistan airlines have repeatedly extended the suspension of flights with countries in order to prevent the virus from entering the country.
For the same reason, the country extended the suspension of train traffic until October 1, and also introduced a mandatory COVID-19 absence certificate when registering for a flight.
To date, no cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in Turkmenistan.
In addition, a WHO / Europe team of experts has previously worked in Turkmenistan at the request of the government to support Turkmenistan in its preparedness and response to COVID-19.
