Kyrgyzstan completes barley harvest with higher yields

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 6. The barley harvest in Kyrgyzstan has been completed, Trend reports.

According to the country’s Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, barley was harvested from an area of 245,900 hectares, which is 44,600 hectares more than last year.

The average yield stands at 26 centners per hectare, which is 4.9 centners higher than in 2023. The total barley harvest amounts to 638,300 tons, which is 214,000 tons more compared to last year.

The highest barley yield was recorded in the Chuy region, where it reached 29.1 centners per hectare.

As of November 4, 2024, a total of 638,500 hectares of grain crops have been harvested across the country, which is 95.6 percent of the planned area and 188,100 hectares more than the same period last year.

As per the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the country's agricultural production totaled 302.1 billion soms ($3.5 billion) from January through September 2024, which is a 6.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
