DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 1. At Dushanbe International Airport in Tajikistan, a new system called "Smart-Gate" has been installed and is currently undergoing testing, Dilshod Safarzoda, the director of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, said during a press conference, Trend reports.

Safarzoda emphasized that the system is being introduced to address the issue of occasional delays during passenger screening at Dushanbe International Airport, which occurs when passengers from multiple flights accumulate during border control at the airport.

According to him, passengers will perform all actions independently, eliminating the need for staff assistance. Once the testing phase is completed, the system will be fully operational, addressing the issue of passenger congestion.

Safarzoda mentioned that flight schedules for Tajikistan's airlines covering 48 destinations, as well as those for foreign airlines covering 12 destinations, were approved last year. Flights operated from international airports in Dushanbe, Khujand, Bokhtar, and Kulob. The total frequency of regular flights by domestic and foreign airlines in Tajikistan reached 270 flights per week in 2023.

It was highlighted that to expand the flight geography, the Civil Aviation Agency regularly conducts bilateral meetings with foreign counterparts and international organizations, taking measures to strengthen cooperation.
