DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 12. The total value of active projects of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Tajikistan currently amounts to $57.6 million, Trend reports via the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan.

This figure was discussed during a meeting between Tajikistan’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavqi Zavqizoda, and Roberto Longo, IFAD Country Director for Tajikistan.

According to the ministry, over the past 15 years, the total volume of IFAD’s direct investments in Tajikistan’s rural development sector has exceeded $115 million, benefiting more than 300,000 rural households across the country.

In the course of the meeting, Zavqizoda stressed that the upcoming Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (COSOP) should be fully aligned with Tajikistan’s National Development Strategy until 2030. He highlighted the importance of supporting rural infrastructure development, poverty reduction, environmental protection, and strengthening the role of women and youth in rural development.

The sides reaffirmed their readiness to jointly develop a high-quality, comprehensive, and realistic strategic document. They also expressed hope for continued cooperation to promote sustainable rural development in Tajikistan.
