DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 29. Tajikistan saw overall growth in electricity and heat production from January through August 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the country’s Statistical Agency shows that total electricity generation rose 11 percent year-on-year to 17,083 million kWh. This increase was driven entirely by hydropower plants, which produced 16,223 million kWh, up 12.1 percent from 14,470 million kWh in the same period of 2024.
Meanwhile, electricity output from other sources declined. Thermal power plants generated 859 million kWh, down 6.8 percent, and solar power plants produced 0.7 million kWh, a decrease of 22.4 percent.
Heat production also increased, rising 3.8 percent to 812,400 Gcal from 782,900 Gcal in the first eight months of 2024.
