Turkmenistan to revamp local Balkan shipbuilding plant

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 27. The Balkan Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant in Turkmenistan will undergo a phased modernization of its material and technical base, Mammetkhan Chakiyev, the head of the country's Transport and Communications Agency said, Trend reports via the country's official media.

He made the remark in his report to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhammedov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Chakiyev also stated that the plant is actively training local specialists in bulk carrier construction and implementing advanced automation technologies.

In an effort to boost the plant's efficiency, the official suggested the remodeling plan.

Berdymukhammedov approved the modernization plan for the shipbuilding and ship repair plant’s material and technical base.

Additionally, the president noted that the launch of bulk carrier production represents an important milestone in the development of the national shipbuilding industry. The modernization of the plant will contribute to an increase in cargo transportation volumes and improve the operations of the Turkmenbashi international seaport.
