BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 13. Iran's exports of fish and fishery products increased by 30 percent in value and 40 percent in weight during the 3 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through June 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2024, through June 21, 2023), the official of Iran Fisheries Organization Abbas Mokhtari said, Trend reports.
According to him, during 3 months, 73,400 tons of fish and fishery products worth $121 million were exported from Iran. However, during the same period last year, Iran's exports of fish and fishery products amounted to 52,300 tons worth $93.1 million.
Mokhtari added that 8,680 tons of carp worth $12.1 million and 3,090 tons of trout worth $6.6 million were exported during the 3 months.
The official noted that 1,350 tons of caviar worth $721 was exported from Iran during 3 months. Compared to the same period last year, caviar exports increased by 41 percent in value and 82 percent in weight.
Mokhtari stated that 23,800 tons of fish feed worth $20.2 million were exported from the country during 3 months. Exports of fish feed increased by 65 percent in value and weight compared to the same period last year.
To note, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, Iran exported 38 million tons of non-oil products worth $13.5 billion during the first three months of the current Iranian year. Iran's non-oil exports decreased by 7.6 percent in value and 5.6 percent in weight compared to the same month of last year.
