BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. About 54.8 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in Hormozgan province, located in the south of Iran, during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024), Director General of İran's Ports and Maritime Administration of Hormozgan Province, Hossein Abbasnejad told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, circa 37.6 million tons of non-oil products sailed through the ports of Hormozgan Province over the course of six months. He added that 42.3 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Rajaee port of the province.
The official pointed out that a whopping 19.8 million tons of non-oil products made their way in and out of the province's ports, finding homes in various countries over the past six months. Out of the bunch, a whopping 17.2 million tons made their way out through Shahid Rajaee Port.
“About 5.4 million tons of oil and oil products were exported through the ports of Hormozgan province during the six months. Of these, 4.73 million tons were exported through Shahid Rajaee port,” he noted.
He made it clear that 1.36 million TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at provincial ports during the mentioned period. A total of 1.21 million TEU containers loaded and unloaded were through Shahid Rajaee Port.
To note, in Iran's Hormozgan Province, a whopping 118 ports are up and running, making waves in the maritime world. Out of the bunch, 44 ports wear many hats as multi-purpose, 31 are in the fishery game, 13 are in the commercial hustle, another 13 cater to entertainment and recreation, 11 are all about the oil business, while 3 serve as passenger hubs and 3 are industrial strongholds.
