Volume of loading and unloading works at Iran's Hormozgan ports rises

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 5. The loading of oil and non-oil products in Hormozgan Province, located in southern Iran, increased by 47 percent during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023), the Director General of Iran's Ports and Maritime Administration of Hormozgan Province Hossein Abbasnejad told reporters, Trend reports.

He reported that the ports of Hormozgan Province handled the loading and unloading of 74.3 million tons of oil and non-oil products over the course of eight months. Of the loaded and unloaded products, about 50.6 million tons were non-oil products, and 23.7 million tons were petroleum products.

Abbasnejad added that about 56.7 million tons of loaded and unloaded products belonged to Shahid Rajaee Port.

The official noted that during the specified period, the province's ports handled the export of about 27 million tons of products. Shahid Rajaee Port handled 23 million tons of these exports.

"During the eight months, the Hormozgan ports transited about 5.61 million tons of products. Transit increased by 19.2 percent compared to the same period last year,” he noted.

To note, Iran's Hormozgan Province has 118 ports. Of them, 44 ports are multi-purpose, 31 are fishing ports, 13 are commercial ports, 13 are entertainment and recreational ports, 11 are oil ports, three are passenger ports, and three are industrial ports.
