Handling operations in Iran's Khuzestan Province ports increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 28. The volume of loading and unloading operations at the ports of Khuzestan Province in southwestern Iran increased by 2 percent during nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), director general of the Port and Maritime Administration of Iran's Khuzestan Province Abu Talib Gerayloo told local media, Trend reports.

According to him, 37.6 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the ports of Khuzestan province during the nine months.

Gerayloo noted that 36 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Imam Khomeini port, 1.6 million tons in Khorramshahr port and 160,000 tons in other ports of the province during nine months.

Iran's Khuzestan province has a coastline length of 1,186 kilometers. The main ports of this province are Imam Khomeini, Shadgan, Abadan, Khorramshahr, Chavibdeh, Arvendkenar and Sajafi.

The current throughput capacity of Iran's ports is more than 285 million tons. Iran is taking steps to increase the capacity of ports to 500 million tons.
