BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 31. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the eastern ports of Hormozgan Province, located in southern Iran, increased by 28 percent during nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), Director General of Iran's Hormozgan Province Eastern Ports Authority Hamid Reza Mohammad Hosseini said, Trend reports.
He claims that a whopping 2.29 million tons of cargo was loaded and unloaded in the eastern ports of Hormozgan province over the course of nine months.
Mohammad Hosseini articulated that a total of 70,200 TEU containers underwent loading and unloading operations throughout the specified timeframe. This represents a 42 percent increase compared to the corresponding timeframe from the previous year.
“During the mentioned period, 21,800 vessels arrived at the eastern ports of the province. More than 100,000 trucks transported cargo from the ports during the mentioned period,” he added.
To note, there are currently 9 operational maritime terminals in the eastern sector of Hormozgan province, Iran. Within this operational framework, the Shahid Bahonar, Tiyab, and Jask ports are classified as active entities.
