Iran divulges cargo handling volume at Shahid Rajaee port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 4. Some 70.2 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Shahid Rajaee Port of Hormozgan Province in southern Iran during the ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through January 19, 2025), Director General of Iran's Ports and Maritime Administration of Hormozgan Province Hossein Abbasnejad told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, non-oil products made up 46.1 million tons of loaded and unloaded cargo during the mentioned period.

Abbasnejad added that 36.4 million tons of oil and non-oil products were exported through Shahid Rajaee port during the ten months. Of these, 29 million tons were non-oil products, and 7.37 million tons were oil and petroleum products.

The official noted that 7.05 million tons of oil and non-oil products were transited through Shahid Rajaee Port during the ten months.

He emphasized that 2 million TEU containers were loaded and unloaded at Shahid Rajaee Port during the mentioned period. This is 10.2 percent more compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023 through January 19, 2024).

To note, the current throughput capacity of Iranian ports is more than 285 million tons. Iran is undertaking steps to increase port capacity to 500 million tons.
