BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. Iran exported 13,000 tons of dry tea worth $17 million during the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, trough February 18, 2025), Head of Iran's Tea Organization (ITO) Habib Jahansaz, told reporters, Trend reports.
Jahansaz explained that Iranian tea is primarily exported to Russia and India.
The official also emphasized that Iranian tea has a unique position in the market due to the fact that no chemical agricultural substances are used in its cultivation, allowing it to compete effectively in global markets.
To note, in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, trough March 20, 2025), 29,000 tons of dry tea were produced from 22,000 hectares of tea leaves, amounting to 25 trillion rials (about $43 million).
Additionally, in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, trough January 19, 2025), Iran imported 39,000 tons of dry tea. In comparison, dry tea imports in the previous year (from March 21, 2023, trough February 19, 2024) totaled 42,000 tons.
