High ranking oil and gas officials from Iran and Oman have attended a meeting with the representatives of three oil and gas companies to discuss ways for cooperation between Tehran and Muscat on gas exports.
Royal Dutch Shell plc, Total S.A as well as South Korea's state-run Korea Gas Corp (KOGAS) attended the two-day meeting on November 12-13 in Tehran, IRNA reported.
Earlier in August 2013 Iran and Oman signed an agreement on exporting 10 million cubic meters of gas per year from Iran to Oman through a seabed pipeline.
The report added that Muscat has opposed Iran’s proposal to construct the pipeline in shallow waters, therefore the sides are seeking a solution to lay the pipeline in deep waters.
According to the initial agreements, a part of the exported gas will go for domestic consumption in Oman and the rest will be exported to a third country through an LNG facility installed in Oman.
