The head of the Energy Commission of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines said Europe has expressed readiness to invest in Iran’s renewable energy projects, which are free from CO2.
“The European Commissioner for Energy said the EU was ready to participate in Iran’s CO2-free renewable energy projects,” Ali Shams Ardakani told ILNA on September 12, referring to the outcome of his recent meeting with Miguel Arias Canete in Tehran.
Canete also said water and wastewater projects could be put on the agenda for further cooperation, he added.
Those countries that have access to seawater could help turn seawater into fresh water. The commissioner promised to talk other commissioners to cooperate with Iran in this regard.” Ali Shams Ardakani said.
Iran is one of the most energy-intensive countries in the world, where inefficient energy use amid consumer subsidies has resulted in a per capita energy consumption which is ten times greater than that in the European Union.
The national energy blueprint is now based on expanding renewable power generation and improving energy efficiency by reducing domestic hydrocarbon use which would free up more oil and gas for export.
