BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 20. Iran's imports of cars, motorcycles, and spare parts increased by 32.7 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Director General of Customs Administration Mohammad Rezvanifar said, Trend reports.
According to him, cars, motorcycles, and spare parts worth $8.38 billion were imported to Iran last year.
Rezvanifar added that about $7.6 billion worth of automobiles and spare parts were imported last year. This is 32 percent more than a year earlier. Cars and spare parts were mainly imported from China, the UAE, and Türkiye.
The official stated that $782 million worth of motorcycles and spare parts were imported into the country last year. Imports of motorcycles and spare parts increased by 41 percent over the previous year. Motorcycles and spare parts were mainly imported from China, the UAE, and Thailand.
To note, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, the country's product imports in the last Iranian year amounted to 39 million tons worth approximately $66.3 billion. The import of products increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight compared to the previous year.
