BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 30. The electricity production potential of Iran's renewable energy plants is 1,317 megawatts (MW).
The data obtained by Trend from Iran's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization shows that the production potential of local solar power plants (SPPs) is 608 MW, accounting for 60 percent of the country's renewable energy plants' electricity production potential.
The electricity production potential of wind power plants in the country is 376 MW, representing 29 percent of the total renewable energy production potential.
The production potential of small hydropower plants (HPPs) is roughly 104 MW, which accounts for eight percent of the country's renewable energy electricity production potential.
Iran's biomass power plants have an electricity production potential of 22.1 MW, making up two percent of the renewable energy plants' total potential.
The electricity production potential of the country's turboexpander plants is 9.6 MW, marking one percent of the renewable energy electricity production potential.
To note, Iran's electricity production potential is 93,455 MW. The production potential of local thermal power plants is 76,257 MW, HPPs - 12,144 MW, retail power plants - 2,485 MW, renewable energy plants - 1,300 MW, the Bushehr nuclear power plant - 1,020 MW, and diesel units - 408 MW.
