Georgia’s 2022 state budget draft makes ‘no significant changes’ to bureaucratic expenditures, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) says, Trend reports via Georgian media.
Despite the 17 million Georgian lari ($5.4 million) increase in labor compensation, the insurance in fair and competitive wages for state employees remains problematic, the IDFI said.
The issue persists due to an insufficient bureaucratic system which needs to be reformed, the IDFI explains.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Georgian economy shrank by 6.2 percent, which is the largest decline since 1994. However, the ministry of finance predicts the economy to grow by 9.5 percent in 2021 and by 6 percent in 2022,” IDFI said.
According to the initial version of the project, the volume of the budget is forecasted to be more than 18.4 billion Georgian lari ($5.8 billion).
Meanwhile, the adjusted budget must be approved by the Parliament by the end of December.
