Irakli Kovzanadze, the Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Georgian Parliament, met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Resident Representative for Georgia, Selim Chakir, to discuss the draft state budget for 2022, Trend reports via the press service of the Parliament.
The meeting focused on the challenges that Georgian economy is facing, including macroeconomic stability, fiscal and monetary policy, inflation, the situation in the banking sector, and the IMF's support.
Back in October, Georgia and the IMF discussed launching a new cooperation program to support new reforms in the country. The Georgian side hopes the program would help support the reform of state-owned enterprises, management of fiscal risks and public finances, etc.
According to Irakli Kovzanadze, Georgia urgently needs this program, and will do everything possible to ensure that it continues.
“One of the determinants for continuing the IMF program will be Georgia's state budget for 2022,” Kovzanadze said.
Meanwhile, the Finance and Budget Committee of the Georgian Parliament will discuss the revised version of the draft state budget for 2022 at its November 12 meeting.
According to the Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee, significant changes have been made in the revised version of the draft state budget for 2022.
