The comprehensive feasibility study for the construction of the Black Sea underwater transmission line and the internet cable connecting Georgia and Romania will begin, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava said, Trend reports via the press service of the Georgian Parliament.
According to the minister, the construction study will be implemented with the assistance of the World Bank.
“Georgia’s energy market will be able to connect to the EU market, which is a completely new reality for the country,” Turnava noted.
“If the project is implemented, the 1,195-kilometer 1,000-megawatt power line will connect Romania to the eastern Balkans, allowing the South Caucasus and Europe to take advantage of expanded electricity export and import opportunities at hourly market prices,” Turnava added.
