BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15. The number of hired workers in Azerbaijan increased by 23,100 people, or 1.34 percent, as of June 1, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, the total number of hired workers for the first of June 2024 amounted to 1.7 million people, including 893,100 people in the public sector of the economy and 856,300 people in the private sector.
Of the total number of employed citizens, 18.9 percent work in education, 18.6 percent in trade and vehicle repair, and 8.4 percent in health care and social services.

To note, according to preliminary data, the average monthly nominal wage of salaried employees in Azerbaijan from January through June 2024 increased by 10.2 percent compared to the same period last year. It amounted to 1,007 manat ($592.3).
The average monthly nominal wage was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, and scientific and technical activities.
