Iran escalates its total agricultural exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. Iran's total agricultural exports grew by 28 percent in value and 16 percent in weight terms during the seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through October 22, 2023).

The data obtained by Trend from the country's customs administration shows that Iran exported 3.8 million tons of agricultural products worth $2.2 billion in the reporting period.

Meanwhile, the export value of pistachios was $614 million, tomatoes: $226 million, watermelons: $139 million, apples: $124 million, and persimmons: $123 million.

Thus, pistachio exports increased by a whopping 192 percent, tomato exports by 18 percent, apple exports by 46 percent, and date exports by 19 percent; however, watermelon exports declined by six percent compared to the seven months of last year.

To note, Iran cultivates more than 130 million tons of agricultural products per year on average.

Agricultural land in the country totals more than 12 million ha.
