ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 1. GE HealthCare has revealed its intentions to grow its presence in the Kazakhstan market, where over 3,000 units of its equipment are already in use across medical institutions, Trend reports.
The President of GE HealthCare for the Middle East, Northeast and Southern Africa, Turkey, Russia, and the CIS, Kostas Deligiannis, announced this during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov.
In the presence of Kazakhstan's President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the parties discussed the progress of the agreement, which aims to modernize the healthcare system and develop local expertise and production capabilities in Kazakhstan. GE HealthCare is one of the leading global manufacturers of advanced medical equipment, diagnostic pharmaceuticals, as well as integrated digital solutions, services, and data analytics systems.
The participants of the meeting addressed issues related to the
localization of production for advanced medical diagnostic
equipment and plans for creating a National Archive of Clinical
Images in Kazakhstan. The localization effort will focus on new
models of ultrasound diagnostic devices and high-performance
computed tomography machines. A centralized archive of medical
images will create a unified digital healthcare space, ensuring the
security and proper storage of patient medical data.
Olzhas Bektenov emphasized that one of the government's priority
areas is the establishment of a quality, accessible, and modern
medical infrastructure aimed at ensuring the safety and health of
Kazakhstanis. Olzhas Bektenov emphasized the importance of
implementing digital solutions in healthcare, modernizing and
adequately equipping hospitals, and training qualified
personnel.
Kostas Deligiannis reported that the state oncology program has installed more than a hundred mammographs in the regions. Six thousand Kazakh specialists have received training at GE HealthCare facilities. Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening their cooperation with the aim of developing Kazakhstan's healthcare system.
