ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 15. In 2025, marketplaces Ozon and Wildberries plan to invest 101.3 billion tenge ($191 million) in building three fulfillment centers, covering a total area of 291,000 square meters, in the Kazakh cities of Astana and Almaty, said Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliev at a government meeting, Trend reports.

Arman Shakkaliev also noted that in 2024, regulations were adopted for providing government support measures to e-commerce entities, including subsidizing commission rates and guaranteeing payments.

Additionally, a new Kazakh marketplace, Teez, has been launched with its own infrastructure, covering an area of 100,000 square meters.In the near future, 10,000 jobs will be created, and investments have reached $50 million, the minister reported.

To note, earlier it was reported that foreign marketplaces would be required to register in Kazakhstan.

Ozon is a Russian marketplace. It was founded in 1998 as an online store selling books and videotapes. In addition to its marketplace, the company develops express delivery of everyday goods through Ozon Fresh, delivery of international goods through Ozon Global, financial services through Ozon Bank, as well as flight and train ticket booking, hotel reservations, and tours through Ozon Travel. The company operates in Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.

Wildberries is a Russian marketplace. It was founded in 2004 by Vladislav and Tatyana Bakalchuk. It operates in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Israel, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. It was the largest online store in Russia by turnover from 2016 to 2023.
