BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 19. Cargo traffic through the North-West transport corridor reached 5.9 million tons in 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee shows that this represents an increase of more than 80,000 tons, or about 1.5 percent, compared to 2023 (5.8 million tons).
To note, the volume of cargoes transported along Azerbaijan's transport corridors last year reached 33.25 million tons and cargo turnover amounted to 13.1 billion ton-km.
The comprehensive analysis of the total traffic shows that 46 percent or 15.28 million tons was transported by rail, while 30.3 percent or 10.09 million tons was transported by road. In addition, 23.7 percent, or 7.89 million tons, was transported through sea channels.
Moreover, the proportion of transit cargo constituted 56.6 percent of the aggregate, totaling 18.84 million tons.
