BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. Azerbaijan exported 2,100 tons of sugar and confectionery products, valued at $1.4 million in January 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that this represents an increase of $369,000, or 35.6 percent, in value terms, and a rise of 723 tons, which is a 51.6 percent increase in volume compared to the same period in 2024.
Sugar and related products exports made up 0.05 percent of Azerbaijan’s total exports and 0.57 percent of non-oil sector exports in the reported month.
Furthermore, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover for January reached $5.9 billion, reflecting a significant 70.5 percent increase, or $2.1 billion more, compared to the same period last year.
Exports amounted to $3.4 billion, while imports totaled $2.5 billion, showing annual increases of 64.8 percent and 79.7 percent, respectively.
Azerbaijan also experienced a positive foreign trade balance of $986 million during this period, representing a 40.7 percent increase, or $285 million, compared to the previous year.
