ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 6. The airline Qazaq Air will change its name to VietJet Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
According to the information, the relevant agreement was inked at the Round Table on Business between Kazakhstan and Vietnam, which was held in Kazakhstan's Astana.
“The deal was completed as part of a comprehensive privatization plan. The buyer was SOVICO Group. All suspensive conditions of the deal were fulfilled, payment received, and shares transferred to the investor's accounts,” said Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Samruk-Kazyna” during the event.
The official stated that this strategic partnership aims not only to develop the airline and the entire industry but also to strengthen economic ties between Kazakhstan and Vietnam. This cooperation will open new horizons for mutual growth and the development of regional relations.
“We highly appreciate the intention of SOVICO Group and VietJet Air to participate in the management and operational activities of Qazaq Air under the new VietJet Kazakhstan brand. Expanding the route network in the region will strengthen transportation connectivity and create new points of economic growth,” added Nurlan Zhakupov.
The Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna expressed confidence that the arrival of Vietnamese partners in Kazakhstan’s aviation industry will further strengthen the friendly economic relations between the two countries. He also noted that today’s meeting would serve as a starting point for new joint projects and the continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation between the businesses of Vietnam and Kazakhstan.
On May 5, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, who arrived in Kazakhstan for an official visit. Previously, the two leaders engaged in discussions in a limited format.
