BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. The number of employees in Azerbaijan's economy stood at 1,775,000, with 880,100 working in the public sector and 894,800 in the private sector, as of April 1, 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee shows that 18.6 percent of the employees worked in trade and vehicle repair, 18.6 percent in education, 13.7 percent in industry, 8.5 percent in healthcare and social services, and 6.6 percent in construction.
Moreover, 6.3 percent of the employees were engaged in public administration, defense, and social security, 4.2 percent in transport and warehousing, 3.9 percent in professional, scientific, and technical activities, 2.4 percent in agriculture, forestry, and fishing, 2.3 percent in finance and insurance, and 14.9 percent in other sectors.
During the first quarter of 2025, the average monthly nominal salary of employees in Azerbaijan grew by 10 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 1,083 manat ($637). The highest average salaries were recorded in mining, finance and insurance, information and communication, professional, scientific, and technical activities, as well as transport and warehousing.
