ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 23. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, held a meeting with Jerzy Starak, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Polpharma Group, who arrived in Astana to participate in the 37th plenary session of the Foreign Investors Council, Trend reports.
In the course of the meeting, issues related to the further development of cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry were discussed, particularly in the area of increasing the share of domestic production of medicines in priority areas for the population.
The parties reviewed the progress of the project to expand the plant of JSC "Khimpharm" in the city of Shymkent through the construction of new production buildings and laboratory facilities.
"Considering market demand, the enterprise plans to master the production of 2 billion units of medicines per year under the trademark SANTO Member of Polpharma Group. The volume of investment amounts to $62.6 million. The creation of 300 new jobs is planned," noted the press service of the premier.
At the end of the negotiations, the parties confirmed their intentions to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation. The prime minister instructed the Ministry of Health and the Akimat (regional administration) of Shymkent city to ensure the preparation of the investment agreement project for the construction of a new modern medicine production facility in the shortest possible time.
The total volume of Polpharma Group’s investment in the enterprise JSC "Khimpharm" exceeded $130 million, and more than 1,300 jobs have been created. The plant produces more than 280 generic drugs covering 12 pharmacotherapeutic groups. Production is certified according to international GMP and GDP standards. Products are supplied to Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and others.
