BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31. Turkmenistan’s proven oil reserves have taken a nosedive over the past decade and a half, plummeting from 1,643 million barrels in 2010 to a mere 599 million barrels by December 31, 2024.
Data obtained by Trend from the 24th Eni’s World Energy Review marks a
drop of nearly 64 percent compared to 2010, with the country’s
reserves remaining unchanged since 2015. The most significant
decrement transpired in the interval from 2010 to 2015, during
which reserves experienced a decline exceeding 1 billion
barrels.
Since 2015, Turkmenistan's hydrocarbon reserves have stabilized at
599 million barrels, exhibiting no annual fluctuations through
2024. The compound annual growth rate (CAGR) during this timeframe
registers at -7.0 percent, underscoring a sustained downturn in the
nation’s established reserves.
