BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 1. Azerbaijan Railways continues work on the reconstruction project of the Alat-Osmanli-Astara railway line, one of the important segments of the North-South International Transport Corridor, a source in Azerbaijan Railways CJSC told Trend.

It was noted that the total length of the railway line along the axis is 245 kilometers, and the construction work is planned to be completed in 2027.

"As many as 55% of the design work has been completed. Besides, 56% of the construction and installation work on the Alat-Osmanli section of the line has been completed.

The project is being implemented in four stages. The first stage covers the 60-kilometer-long Alat-Osmanli section. The construction of a new railway bridge over the Kura River has been completed within the framework of the second stage.

"Currently, design work is continuing on other stages," the source added.

The reconstruction of the Alat-Osmanli-Astara railway line serves to increase the volume of freight transportation along the North-South International Transport Corridor, expand transit opportunities, and strengthen the region's transport and logistics potential.
