Presently, 118 national water projects are being implemented in Iran, and 31 of them have passed the 8 percent of progress already, said Shahin Pakrouh, deputy director for engineering and development issues at the National Water and Wastewater Engineering Company of Iran, Trend reports via ISNA.
He said that the budget funds for the next Iranian year (starts March 21, 2019) allocated for the implementation of projects increased by 16 percent to 19.3 trillion rials (about $460 million), adding that 24.7 trillion rials (about $588 million) are needed to complete 31 national projects.
“As many as 209 sewerage projects have been envisaged in the country’s budget for the next Iranian year,” he noted. “More than 80 percent progress has been achieved in 54 projects as part of the sewerage system development program. So far, 79.5 trillion rials (about $1.89 billion) have been spent on these projects.”
He said that 33.7 trillion rials (about $804 million) are needed in Iran to develop and commission these 54 sewerage projects.
He noted that 86 sewage treatment facilities are being constructed with capacity of 2.22 million cubic meters.
With the gradual improvement and commissioning of these facilities, sewage treatment services will cover more than 10.22 million people, he said, adding that 10.4 trillion rials (about $247 million) are needed to improve these projects.
He noted that a total of 30 water treatment facilities with capacity of 3.327 billion cubic meters per day are being constructed in Iran.
