The number of cars registered in Kazakhstan during first eight months of 2019 amounted to 955,877 vehicles, which is 12.3 percent more compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to the press office of KazAutoProm company.
Thus, some 891,399 registered cars accounted for secondary registration, which is 11.5 percent more compared to the same period of last year. The number of cars which were registered for the first time equaled 64,478 vehicles, which is 24.1 percent more compared to the same period of 2018.
Furthermore the number of cars registered in August alone amounted to 129,776 vehicles, which is also 11.9 percent more compared to August 2018. Some 120,759 vehicles of this number were registered for the second time (increase of 11.4 percent).
According to the information, the demand for electric cars in Kazakhstan decreased by 3.9 times. Thus, the number of electric cars registered during January-August equaled 11 vehicles compared to 43 vehicles during the same period of 2018. Furthermore, no electric cars were registered during July and August.
Over two thirds (69.6 percent) of secondary registered vehicles are cars over 10 years old, whereas the percentage of cars aged less that one year equaled 0.5 percent during the reporting period.
“This dynamic continues to indicate the tendency of steady ageing of Kazakhstan’s vehicles fleet. Thus, the share of vehicles over 20 years old increased from 39.6 percent in January-August 2018 to 42 percent in January-August 2019, whereas the share of cars aged 1-3 years decreased from 4.5 percent to 3.5 percent,” the report said.
The largest number of secondary registrations of cars is observed in Almaty region (136, 559 vehicles), Almaty city (110,065 vehicles) and Turkestan region (81,242 vehicles). Residents of Almaty region have also registered the largest number of secondary registered cars (20.9 percent of total number).
In turn, the largest number of cars less than one year old was registered in Almaty city (22.5 percent), Nur-Sultan city (11.8 percent) and Atyrau region (10.3 percent).
