The Tashkent Metro of Uzbekistan plans to acquire 45 new Russian trains, which is a total of about 200 subway cars, as stated by Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Railways, head of the Tashkent Metro Oybek Khudoykulov, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
According to him, before the end of this year, it is planned to complete the construction of the Yunusabad and Sergeli metro lines, as well as to launch the first stage of the construction of the ring line.
"For operation of the rolling stock on new Tashkent metro lines, Uzbekistan Railways signed into a contract with the Russian Metrovagonmash plant to purchase the first batch of subway cars in the amount of five trains. In total, over 45 such trains are planned to be acquired, which in total will make about 200 cars," he said.
As Yevgeny Khazov, Metrovagonmash marketing director, noted, when designing trains for the Tashkent metro, the Russian company relied on passenger travel to be safe and very comfortable.
He said that a number of technical characteristics of 81-765 / 766/767 series subway cars also include new innovative solutions that save up to 35 percent of electricity, and the use of the third generation of asynchronous traction drive reduces operating costs by up to 40 percent. The service life of each car is 30 years.
