Kazakhstan and Lithuania have discussed possibility to open additional direct flights between countries and opportunity to expand cooperation in aircraft pilots training, a representative of Ministry of Transport and Communications of Lithuania told Trend.
According to the representative, Kazakhstan and Lithuania have a room for cooperation in the area of transport and logistics.
“Kazakhstan is important partner of Lithuania. We are looking forward to find mutually beneficial areas to cooperate with the aim to strengthen bilateral relations in transport. In addition, we see possibilities to develop and strengthen relations in economical, trade and logistics areas,” the official said.
Lithuania’s priority for cooperation with Kazakhstan is to provide the high-quality services in transport and logistics and create beneficial environment for transit flow of goods between East and West.
In this regard, the possibility to reopen the direct flight between Lithuania and Kazakhstan and opportunity to expand cooperation in aircraft pilots training were also discussed with the colleagues from Kazakhstan. Presently, administration of Lithuanian Airports is in discussion with Kazakh airlines companies on the possibility to establish direct flight between Kazakhstan and Lithuania.
According to the official, launch of these flights will create numerous opportunities for Kazakhstan due to specific geographic location of Lithuania.
“Being located in the geographical center of Europe allows Lithuania to be flight accessible from all the EU capitals in three hours or even less. Vilnius, Palanga and Kaunas airports are civil airports which render services to regular and charter flights for passengers and cargo. Šiauliai Airport is a military airport, but the flights of civil aircraft are also permitted. Šiauliai Airport, or the so-called Zokniai Air Base, the biggest military airport in the Baltics, offers an integrated system of supply chain including airport infrastructure, cargo terminal and value-added logistics serves,” the official said.
All of this gives Lithuania a sufficient capability to ensure effective carriage of Kazakh goods via territory of the country.
