In the first eight months (from March 21 to Nov. 21, 2019) of the current Iranian year, Iran's milk and dairy exports increased by several times, compared to the same period last year, the Chairman of the Iran Veterinary Organization Alireza Rafipour said at a press conference, Trend reports via IRIB.
According to Rafipour, Iran exported 14.7 million kilograms of milk and dairy products, during the reported eight-month period.
However, this figure was slightly over 3.5 million kilograms in the same period of the previous year, the chairman added.
The total number of eggs and poultry Iran exported in the first eight months of the current year reached 8.6 million, which was 5.78 million in the same period of the previous year, Rafipour said.
Currently, talks on imports of Iranian horses are underway with European countries, the chairman noted.
Presently, bans on imports of Iranian horses has been lifted because global methods for fighting glanders disease are being applied in Iran, Rafipour said.
The chairman noted that the number of slaughtered animals has been decreased by 30 percent in Iran in the reported period. Thus, in the current year, so far, 478 million birds and 4.39 million other animals have been slaughtered.
