The volume of industrial production in Azerbaijan amounted to 15.5 billion manat ($9.1 billion) from January through May 2020, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee.
During this period, the country’s industrial production increased by 0.4 percent compared to the same period last year, said the report.
In May 2020, industrial production in Azerbaijan grew by 19.2 percent over the year.
In the non-oil sector of industry, production grew by 14 percent in the first 5 months of 2020.
In the mining sector, 62 percent accounted for industrial production, 31.6 percent - for processing, 5.6 percent - for production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam.
At the same time, the water supply, waste treatment and recycling sector accounted for 0.8 percent.
Meanwhile, in the sector of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, production increased by 13 percent, water supply, waste treatment and recycling grew by 1.5 percent.
The share of oil production in the mining sector decreased by 3.1 percent, while commercial gas production increased by 15.5 percent over the year.
In the first 5 months of 2020, pharmaceutical production in the country grew 3.1 times, automobiles, trailers and semi-trailers - 2.3 times, metallurgy - 2.2 times, computer, electronic and optical products increased by 94.6 percent, in the field of woodworking and wood products - by 57, 2 percent, other vehicles - by 37.6 percent, electrical equipment - by 26.5 percent, chemical industry - by 24.6 percent, finished metal products - by 7.4 percent, drinks - by 2.9 percent, oil products - 2 percent, printing products - 1.8 percent, food products - 1.8 percent, textile industry - 1 percent.
The country’s furniture production dropped by 1.5 percent, machinery and equipment – by 8.2 percent, building materials – by 9.3 percent, leather and its products, shoes – by 37.2 percent, in the field of installation and repair of machines and equipment - by 44.2 percent.
