The assets of the Azerbaijani insurance sector amounted to 1.3 billion manat ($764 million) as of late 2021, which is by 1.62 percent less than as of late 2020 (1.35 billion manat or $794 million), Trend reports with reference to the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers’ report on activity in 2021.
According to the report, insurers' investments in state securities increased by 2.47 percent up to 457 million manat ($268 million), while investments in non-state securities decreased by 6.25 percent up to 75 million manat ($44 million), the funds in deposit accounts of the sector decreased by 1.91 percent up to 308 million manat ($181 million), other assets in cash - by 15.57 percent up to 103 million manat ($60 million), other assets - by 0.76 percent up to 388 million manat ($228 million).
The total insurance premiums for the sector amounted to 844 million manat ($496 million) while insurance payments - 459 million manat ($270 million) in 2021. The insurance premiums increased by 15.8 percent (115 million manat or $67 million), while insurance payments decreased by 1.4 percent (6.4 million manat or $3.8 million) compared to 2020.
